Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Barsight handles information in its browser and Android experiences. It applies to the Barsight services described below.

1. Information We Collect

Barsight in your browser

Google sign-in gives Barsight your Google account identifier and verified email address. We use this information to authenticate you and help protect our services from unauthorized use and abuse. Signing in does not subscribe you to marketing emails. Email codes used for merchant sign-in are also only for authentication and do not enroll you in marketing.

Barsight checks whether you are at least 21 before opening adult-only experiences. If you enter a date of birth, the check runs in your browser: your date of birth is not sent to Barsight or an AI provider and is not retained. The liquor-store browser app saves only an eligibility flag, policy version and expiry on your device for 30 days. Other browser entries keep eligibility in memory for the current page. The Android app saves an eligibility flag and policy version on your device, without saving your date of birth.

Your personal browser bar, favorites, custom recipes, shopping list, drink preferences and selected ZIP are saved on your device and in your Barsight account on our existing Microsoft Azure server, linked to your Google account identifier. Signing in with the same account restores them on another device. Existing locally saved bars are added to your account when you open the app. Changes made while account saving is unavailable stay on your device and retry when connected. Photos and audio are not included in your saved bar. These account records are not shared with retailers or included in activity measurement. Browser sign-in uses an HttpOnly session cookie lasting up to 30 days, or until you sign out. Google credentials used for photo and audio analysis are encrypted on the server and expire sooner; analysis may require a fresh Google confirmation.

Photos, audio and ingredient text you submit for analysis are sent through Barsight’s services to Microsoft Azure AI services, including Azure OpenAI where configured. If you allow device location, coordinates are used to find an approximate ZIP code and area through the U.S. Census geocoding service. You can also enter a ZIP code manually. ZIP codes are used in nearby-store searches. We retain browser authentication information for the session; this is separate from ingredient trend data described below.

In-store guest experience

The bottle assistant works without a Google account. Ingredients selected during a store visit stay in temporary storage in your browser tab, separate from your personal browser bar. A store link identifies the referring store; it does not set your home ZIP code.

Guest photos are sent to Microsoft Azure AI services for safety checks and ingredient recognition. We do not save those photos as part of your bar. To limit abuse and usage, photo scans use an HttpOnly guest cookie lasting up to one day and server-side daily counters containing hashed guest and IP identifiers. Counters are deleted as scans occur once they are older than two calendar days. Photos and shopping lists are not shared with stores. Optional ingredient and activity statistics are described below.

Activity measurement

Barsight keeps up to seven operator-only recovery snapshots on its existing host, rotated at startup and daily. Deleted activity records may remain in these snapshots until rotation; these snapshots are not shared with retailers.

Optional activity measurement records canonical ingredients currently selected in your bar, confirmed catalog bottles when identified, scan and voice outcomes, recipe views and favorites, sharing actions, and shopping clicks. It may include the ZIP you provide and the referring store. Personal web, store web, and Android activity are kept separate. Analytics records use a keyed pseudonymous identifier derived from your account or guest session; they do not store your account name, email, photos, audio, transcripts, raw searches, precise location, or shopping-list text. These identifiers allow distinct participating accounts or guest browsers to be counted; they do not establish unique people.

Administrator reports show aggregate activity across Barsight. Retailers receive aggregate activity attributed to their stores; approved retailers also receive aggregate activity and ingredient inventories with no referring store in their account's ZIP. Distilleries receive aggregate activity for their catalog bottles and relevant ingredient categories and recipes. Business reports withhold groups and individual metrics with fewer than five participants. Generic ingredient selections do not establish ownership of a particular brand, bottle quantity, purchases, consumption, or store visits. Activity events are retained for up to 365 days and current inventory observations for up to 90 days. The existing summarized placement measurement retains its separate 14-day default.

You can turn off Activity measurement independently in each browser experience or disable analytics in Android Settings. Turning it off removes that experience’s current analytics events and inventory observations for the current account or guest session. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable browser collection. A guest browser identifier expires after one day, so an expired guest session cannot identify older observations for immediate deletion; normal retention still applies.

Android app and ingredient trend data

When you use the App, we may collect the following information:

2. How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used for the following purposes:

3. Data Storage and Security

Android ingredient data is securely transmitted to and stored on Microsoft Azure cloud servers. Images and audio provided for ingredient identification are processed by Microsoft Azure AI services. While we do not store ingredient trend data with a username, it is tied to the ZIP code provided. Browser authentication records contain your account identifier and email as described above. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following situations:

Online tracking

Barsight does not use session-replay software on its browser or in-store experiences.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your ingredient data solely for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined above. You may request the deletion of your data at any time by contacting us directly.

For the browser app, use Settings & backup to manage your saved bar. Clearing this site’s local storage removes the device copy; signing in again restores the account copy. Signing out removes your active server session, while your saved account bar remains. Account bar records are retained until changed or deleted on request. Deleted records may remain in the pilot’s seven rotating recovery snapshots until rotation; those snapshots are not shared with retailers.

How to request data deletion: For ingredient trend data, please email us with your ZIP code and details about the ingredients you have added. For browser authentication records, include the email address you used to sign in, and specify account bar data if you want your saved bar deleted. We will delete associated records from our cloud storage within 30 days of your request.

6. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for use by anyone under the legal drinking age. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 21 (or the applicable legal drinking age in your jurisdiction).

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
